For the first time I attempt to reply to a message after starting thunderbird,
everything seems fine.
When I attept to reply to any further message the dialog pane will not accept
keyboard input, or even display a caret, in the message text area or even any
of the header input fields.
Restarting thunderbird appears to clear the problem.
