You have been subscribed to a public bug:
When trying to view any of the videos on http://news.bbc.co.uk, the popup
window for the BBC News Player contains what looks like three partially
overlapping instances of embedded kmplayer. The sound from each one plays a
fraction of a second out of sync making it difficult to understand. I have
chosen the real player option on the BBC website and kmplayer is set to use the
Xine movie player. I have installed the w32codecs package.
Doing some investigation, I have found that:
1. Disabling Javascript is a workaround - I get only one embedded kmplayer in
the same window (i.e. not a popup), but there is other stuff on news.bbc.co.uk
that requires Javascript so this is not an ideal fix.
2. Configuring kmplayer to use mplayer gives three mplayers but each in their
own windows
3. Choosing the "windows media player" option (via the 'preferences' links on
the BBC News Player) does not play with either Xine or MPlayer backends
I am using a recent fresh installation of Kubuntu feisty, and the problem was
not solved by updating KDE to 3.5.7. I also see a similar effect using the
Kubuntu 7.04 live CD.
