I have the same problem at the moment.
User 'administrator' is logged out but still has a check mark behind his name
in the session menu (I am currently logged in as 'duke').
However on the greeter user 'administrator' has no little triangle on the left
of his name.

The output of loginctl is similar to the previous one:

duke@desktop-pc:~$ loginctl list-users
       UID USER
      1000 administrator
      1001 duke

2 users listed.
duke@desktop-pc:~$ loginctl user-status administrator
administrator (1000)

                    └─7162
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/indicator-sound/indicator-sound-service

Any idea why these processes are still running and what can be done to
solve this problem?

Kind regards.
