Having taken a brief look at the buglist in KDE https://bugs.kde.org/component-report.cgi?product=lightdm
leaves me with impression that Kubuntu 12.04 would benefit from the situation that bugfixes would get incorporated in by an upgraded version. > Harald Sitter wrote: > This is not what the changelog says? >"kdm users are not forced to install lightdm now that nvidia depends on nvidia-prime." plz read on: ... This fixes only the _single_ graphics card use case ... ... (hybrid graphics won't still work without lightdm) ... I cannot test it in full since the HWE-Stack-saucy is not completed yet. So far it'll be necessary to logout from a running session in order to acivate the e.g. Nvidia dGPU / Intel-iGPU, LightDM will restart the X-System automatically. Even though I would personnaly agree to favour KDM it fails here and we've got to use STRG+backspace. proof of concept: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/post/6221157/ (dated 24. Dezember 2013 10:55) A similar test could be provided with the current Alpha-1 of 14.04 in order to let u see the disappointing result wt KDM on a Nvidia-Hybrid Graphics System (aka Optimus). I am only asking for the change in order to keep the high level of Kubuntu with the coming change as refered to in comment #1 above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263469 Title: [backport-request] 12.04.4 needs a newer version of lightDM-KDE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm-kde/+bug/1263469/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
