Christian Diefanbach, given that the original report premise didn't address the 
issue:
CONFIG_NFS_USE_NEW_IDMAPPER is unset in ubuntu kernel config, this causes nfs4 
id-mapping to fail

and how this would appear to be an unfamiliarity of NFS vs. a bug in it.
