I'm using an Intel Core 2 Duo 2300 with Feisty and 2.6.20-16-generic
kernel and frequency scaling is (still) not working. In the past I
solved this problem by using an older 686 kernel but now I can't install
it. (some trouble with udev hook script).

Anyway, the problem is that speedstep-centrino or acpi-cpufreq can't be
loaded. The error message is something like. "No such device."

With the new Gutsy's kernel everything works, but as there are some
reasons why I can't install it, I'd be very interested in helping to
solve this issue.

Ps: If you want me to run a command with speedsteping enabled in BIOS,
please make some kind of note about that because at the moment
speedsteping is disabled to keep the CPU at its minimum frequency.
