Keeping everything else the same, please do update the firmware to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=iwlwifi-3160-ucode-22.1.7.0.tgz and we can see if it gets better or worse in comparison to your most recent test.
