I reported it to the Audacious team, and they verified it and fixed it:

I confirm the fix works.

Thank you for reporting the issue. Hopefully, audacious will do a 3.5.0
release soon enough and it will find its way into trusty. If you need
the fix now, then I highly recommend you build your own audacious from
git. If you need help with that or you want me to make a patched version
in a PPA. let me know.
