Yes, it's still a problem (12.04LTS with updates as of Dec 19 '13). I don't know of any way to reliably/consistently reproduce it. I encounter it after 1-4 days of normal usage, which would be difficult to duplicate with a development release. Perhaps one of the other affected parties can try.
