Brightening and darkening is working fine with lubuntu 14.04 My hardware is http://phillw.net/hardware/aDU4RVzY If you want to let the devs know more of your system please do have a read of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Hardware This actually makes the tasks of the devs a little easier as they may even actually ping you back to try some thing..... And, yes, they do.
