I experienced a related issue (I think) after installing Ubuntu 12.04.03 LTS (downloaded on January 6th, 2014) on a desktop PC.
Everything went fine during install. After roughly 30 minutes of usage, I experienced a complete crash of all USB ports (I had both keyboard and mouse on USB 2.0 ports, and other USB 3.0 were not usable any more). After rebooting, I experienced the same problem again after roughly 20 minutes of usage. Very serious issue, indeed. This desktop PC was then moved to Windows 8.0 and everything went fine from now on. No crashes at all for days and weeks. Therefore, I concluded that this problem was lying 100% on Ubuntu side. Here is my configuration ( I can provide more info if necessary): - Motherboard: Asrock H67M - CPU : Intel Core i5 2400S 2.5GHz (x64) - RAM: Corsair DDR3 4GB - Keyboard and mouse: Logitech If you consider this is a different issue, I will create another bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1250726 Title: ubuntu 12.04 dell laptop inspiron 6000 pci-card usb ports sudden death To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1250726/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
