Thanks a lot Alberto, this indeed could be it, I wonder what blocked this 
upstream, maybe because it's a manufacturer issue that only can get patched 
using a "big fat ugly hack" instead of having correct VBT...
I now understand better the use of the CSM/Non-CSM test since some laptop 
apparently advertise different VBT tables in both modes.
I wonder if it would be of any use (or fun) to report this to Asus and see if 
they come up w/ an updated UEFI :P
