** Description changed: 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release: 14.04 2) apt-cache policy acpid acpid: Installed: 1:2.0.18-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:2.0.18-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:2.0.18-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What is expected to happen is when one adjusts the power cord slightly, or accidently presses the power button, the computer doesn't immediately begin to shutdown. 4) What happens instead is looks like it received a shutdown event. Previously, when I was using Raring with an HDD i386, a message would pop up asking if I wanted to shutdown, which I didn't. However, now that I'm using an SSD, it just immediately starts shutting down without my being able to either prevent the event altogether, or say no. This is not an issue where when one adjusts the power cord, is it causing the machine to immediately lose power (hard shutoff). The system does have a battery that functions without AC power. - WORKAROUND: Don't jiggle the point where the power cord meets the board, - just pull straight out or straight in. - - WORKAROUND: gksudo mousepad /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh + Attempted the following but this did not work: + gksudo mousepad /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh change: /sbin/shutdown -h now "Power button pressed" to: # /sbin/shutdown -h now "Power button pressed" + + WORKAROUND: Don't jiggle the point where the power cord meets the board, + just pull straight out or straight in.
