Public bug reported:

Hi guys,

I'm using Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 (Gnome flavour) with 2*GTX560 ti
oc 2GB GPU mem, 16GB system memory.
The processor is an i7 4770k on an "asrock z87 killer" motherboard.

Previously I was using an i7 860 with an asus mobo and upgraded my
hardware 2 days ago. After the hardware upgrade, I could not edit videos
with Blender 3D http://www.blender.org anymore (I'm using many h264
encoded files that are created with SimpleScreencast recorder) - the
system froze after I tried to load them into the application. Short time
after that I discovered that even the nautilus thumbnailer crashed my pc
whenever it tried to display a thumbnail of those videos.

I finally did a fresh install after having fought with the system for a
day, so atm, I'm on a fresh install. But no luck - the system freezes as
soon as enter a directory with some h264 encoded files and blender
crashes as soon as it decodes and plays back the file (one file that
crashes blender is here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_TyeOVwSDlQRldmaFA5SlRFWFU/edit?usp=sharing
)

The weird thing is, that vlc seems to be able to play those files that
crashes Blender.

The bug is really dramatic for me because I loose a lot of time and work
by those freezes.

I will attach all logs from my system..

Greetings, Thomas
