Public bug reported:

until the past week, 14.04 was working fine on this system, with a single 
partition (for /(root) /boot & /home) mounted on XFS.
since then, it broke, and GRUB cant boot from it anymore!

I tried to reinstall grub, run grub-install, with no sucess
