Making Nemo the default file manager doesn't require changing the entire Ubuntu base. Instead, what it requires is installing nemo (by default) during the installation of Ubuntu, and placing its launcher where Nautilus' launcher use to be.
Making this bug "invalid", because it is possible to install *another* desktop that uses Nemo by default, is irrelevant to the suggestion of making Nemo the default for the Unity Desktop. A major purpose of bug reporting, in addition to fixing problems, is to suggest improvements. Nautilus seems to have turned into some type of forked-hack, having numerous regressions in recent releases. Nemo provides what Nautilus once provided (before these recent regressions). I can't think of one practical way Nautilus is better than Nemo, so WHY NOT make it the default? I personally moved to Nemo due to this bug in Nautilus: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1026254 Gunwald's bug submission is a wonderful suggestion that makes a lot of sense to me. How can we continue to make Ubuntu better if we quickly mark decent suggestions invalid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239901 Title: Replace Nautilus as default file manager with Nemo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1239901/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
