Usually this should not be possible, as there cannot be two daemons listening on port 631 and possibly also not two daemons sharing the /var/run/cups/cups.sock socket.
Can you follow the instructions of the section "CUPS error_log" on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. Please also attach your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file. Then please kill the extra cupsd and restart the real one via Upstart. After that, run the command system-config-printer --debug 2>&1 | tee log.txt and do the actions which make a second cupsd start (tell which actions these are). Attach the log.txt file. Please do not compress the files nor package them together, attach them one by one. This makes it easier to read them right out of the browser. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1273907 Title: multiple cups daemons running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1273907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
