Public bug reported:

One thing that would enhance the work-flow in mc, would be the feature
of enabling the arrow keys as a way to navigate the tree hierarchy of
the file system.

An example of an ncurses applications that provides this feature is ncdu, which
you can install with the following command:
sudo apt-get install ncdu

Then run ncdu from a directory that has sub-folders in it, with a command like
this:
sudo ncdu /home/

Now use your arrow-keys (up down right left) to navigate the folder
hierarchy (with less steps than mc offers currently for doing the same
thing).

This seems like an easy thing to implement, and I know others will
appreciate this feature too, if implemented.
