Ok, this bug is still an issue, as I just figured out. I forgot that I had this
workaround:
In /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf, I added the line:
options saa7134 disable_ir=1
This disables IR support for the TV card (duh), which makes the
backspace problem disappear, but of course, I can't use the remote -
which is bad.
