I have just tested this and I can't seem to be able to reproduce:

ubuntu@ubuntu:/etc/maas$ sudo cat pserv.yaml  | grep generator

ubuntu@ubuntu:/etc/maas$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-cluster-controller
maas-cluster-celery stop/waiting
maas-pserv stop/waiting
