I agree with sicundercover. Since Ubuntu appears to be THE distro of the 
present time it is quite disheartening to see that some very quite popular 
piece of hardware and also the SATA FakeRAID is not supported right out of the 
box. The Fedoras do that since the stone age without any additional boot 
parameters and have a leg up in regards to this issue, although I consider 
Fedora substandard in general. The repositories appear to run on dial up.
Any means on helping out to get this fixed in the next release?
