When an application appends some text to a notification and there is a
synchronous notification displayed below, the appended content will
"crash into" the synchronous notification. The correct behavior is to
delay the append request while the synchronous notification is on
screen, and then display the additional content as soon as the
synchronous notification has (completely) faded away.
