You have been subscribed to a public bug: When using Awesome [1] as a window manager, notify-osd fails to detect its component wibox as a panel and falls back to displaying bubble in top right corner, hiding part of the actual panel. This looks ugly and notify-osd should either detect awesome's panel correctly or provide a way to set the gap between bubble and end of the screen. (No need for GUI though, I guess all Awesome users are capable of configuring it without it.)
