Public bug reported:
Using rdesktop on an Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit machine and connecting to a
remote Ubuntu 12.04 host running x11rdp the cursor is not drawn
correctly using the default protocol version. Rdesktop is version :
1.7.0-1ubuntu2
Upon first connecting the cursor appears normal size and appropriate
resolution, but as soon as any graphical application is launched, the
cursor changes to a 2 color version which appears to be 1 or maybe 2
times the correct size. The effect is a large black square which you can
move around the screen with white blobs representing the different
cursor shapes contained within it.
Changing the default protocol to use version 4 by adding ' -4 ' to
the command line string removes this irritating behaviour, and makes the
session usable once more.
At present, since the version 4 protocol seems to allow me to work on
the things I need to, I am using this as a workaround, but there is
clearly a bug of some sort in the default cursor handling for the new
version.
I am happy to try turning on logging etc for diagnosis if required,
provided simple instructions are given...
