matteodefelice, if you adjust your swap space to something quite large
(ex. 40GB), does this address the issue?

I could also reproduce this problem with MATLAB, due to manipulating
data sets that are a few GBs in size. With the way MATLAB is designed,
it loaded the entire GB dataset into memory first, then carried out the
functions. I fixed the problem by making the swap 20GB+ ->
