matteodefelice, if you adjust your swap space to something quite large (ex. 40GB), does this address the issue?
I could also reproduce this problem with MATLAB, due to manipulating data sets that are a few GBs in size. With the way MATLAB is designed, it loaded the entire GB dataset into memory first, then carried out the functions. I fixed the problem by making the swap 20GB+ -> http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/matlab_prog/resolving-out-of- memory-errors.html ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a17 needs-upstream-testing regression- potential ** Summary changed: - Same as bug 1162073 + [Dell Precision WorkStation T3500] system freezes when the RAM is full ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1162073 [NP900X4C-A04US] System freeze on high memory usage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1221217 Title: [Dell Precision WorkStation T3500] system freezes when the RAM is full To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1221217/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
