I had a chat with Timo and we decided to simply hard-depend on Qt 5.2 to fix this. I modified Timo's patch to make it backwards compatible with Qt 5.0.2, but doing such a 'backward compatibility' in packaging is a bit harder, we would actually have to do some nasty hacks in debian/rules (dh_install doesn't support anything helpful).
