Ubuntu has old Synergy version (1.4.12) - several new bugfix versions are released since this, please try newer release (for example 1.4.13) from ppa:trebelnik-stefina/synergy (https://launchpad.net/~trebelnik-stefina/+archive/synergy ) or the latest release from upstream: http://synergy-foss.org/download/?list
