This bug happened after I did the most recent set of updates. Turned
computer back on and had a login screen where I never had the login
screen before. Only the login wouldn't log me in even after correct
password was typed. I used Ctrl + Alt + F1 to go to terminal, installed
gdm, made it the default, rebooted and was able to enter the o/s after
logging in again.  The error report showed the same byte size notice.

The answer page I used when I reserched this suggested a fault in the
user wallpaper. I have changed back to an Ubuntu and am about to try
reverting to lightgdm.
