I can confirm this bug. Also on lubuntu on 14.04 64bit, with all latest
updates.
- google-chrome and google-chrome-beta crash
- thunderbird crashes
- firefox crashes
- other programs do crash
Weird thing is, that if I create a new account, and do not login by
graphical interface, but just su - {user} and run the programs, it
works. If I login to the graphical interface with this user, it has the
same behavior as my regular account.
So:
open terminal
sudo adduser test
sudo passwd test
su - test
all programs work.
When the graphical environment is run for user test by login in, and the
directories and files are created, things blow up....
