Public bug reported:

The "transparent background" option of the gnome terminal is not working
properly, the screen background turns black instead of transparent when
a solid color is used as backgoround and if an image is being used it
will only be visible when the bar is set to none, otherwise it will
return to the last solid color selected. I'll attach scrrens on both
cases.
