Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

Sound output with the 2.6.22-10-generic kernel is not working for me. It
is working fine with 2.6.22-9. This is on an AMD64 machine (ASUS A8N-VM
CSM). With 2.6.22-10 I get this:

# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

(AFAIK, the HDA Generic indicates that ALSA did not recognize the
device.)

Whereas with 2.6.22-9 I get this:

# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

The remaining configuration is of course the same, I am just booting with
different kernels. I do not see any logging statements in the kernel log that
would relate to ALSA with either kernel.
