It also happened to me, right now.

Fixed the following way:
-Boot from a pendrive
-Mount my root file system (where /boot is)
-run: "sudo grub-install --boot-directory=/mnt/<sth>/boot /dev/sdX"
Then reboot with HDD

I would say, otherwise it works well, but this was a surprise.
