+ Found while running a xubuntu live session:
+ 
  menulibre does not cause a newly created menu entry to be hidden if the
  option "hide from menus" is selected and the save button is activated.
  
  when running 'menulibre --verbose' i see these errors:
  
  (menulibre:5099): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_model_get_iter: assertion
  'path->depth > 0' failed
  
  The .desktop files get updated correctly.
