I'm in exactly the same situation as Sten Bennetsen. I've just upgraded the BIOS, but without any change to the firewire issue.
by the way the "firewire-ohci.blacklist=yes" command doesn't work for me. Instead I have to use "blacklist=firewire_ohci" I confirm the work-around works perfectly.
