Binary package hint: vim
I just installed kubuntu edgy amd64.
If I edit a text file with vim and I type accented letters it appears strange
symbols instead of them.
Accented letters in the console works fine.
Vim version is 7.0-035+1ubuntu2
Maybe this is related to Bug #27777
