*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1082629 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082629
I'm using 14.04. I keep it updated. Today I cannot install new software. I get: Software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available. (org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.Error.Failed: ('system-bus-name', {'name': ':1.101'}): org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-packages When I run Software Updater, I get "You are not allowed to perform this action" You don't have the required privileges ... I ran sudo apt-get update in a terminal and it ran too quickly to have worked correctly (I think). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1102389 Title: software-center crashed with UnicodeDecodeError in _call_apport_recoverable_error(): 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 35: ordinal not in range(128) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1102389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
