Oh, forgot to mention that blacklisting the ndiswrapper module still resulted in bootup deadlocking. But, manually deleting '/lib/modules/2.6.22-10-generic/ubuntu/misc/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko' allowed the system to boot properly...
