Public bug reported: Version: Ubuntu 7.04 with all Updates installed Browser: Firefox 2 Computer Specs: - Intel Celeron 2.4 GHz - Intel Extreme 2 Graphics - Integrated Audio - 256 MB of RAM - 80 GB HDD
When I visited a website, Firefox gave me a message in the information bar at the top that said "Additional Plugins are required to display all the media on this page". So i clicked "Install Missing Plugins" and then the Plugin finder service window shows up. The plugin finder service said that i needed the "Java Runtime Environment" and offered to install it for me. I clicked next and it said that no plugins were installed and said that i could manually install the plugin. So i clicked Manual Install and then Finish on the Plugin Finder service window. Then it Opened up a new Firefox windows at the Java Software Website (http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp). I then clicked "Download Now" and then tried both the "Linux Self Extracting" and the "Linux RPM Self Extracting" files using "Open with". None of them worked and it gave me an error message in Ubuntu when i tried to install it that said: "tmp /jre-6u2-linux-i586-rpm-1.bin could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Java Runtime Environment can't Install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134782 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
