This is still a bit present in gutsy. It displays the message in a blink of an 
eye. 
It doesnt appear when using gdm as default display manager, only when using 
KDM. Therefore I think gdm should be configured not to display the message.

The message that is printed just before KDM starts:
"Not starting GNOME Display Manager (gdm); it is not the default display 
manager"
