This is Logitech USB cam, I've plugged it in and used puaucontrol to
switch Skype to use it then adjusted mic a bit, could be that Skype also
tried to do it's best to control mic volume in parallel to my manual
adjustments.

Yes indeed I have jack detection problems, no idea why. But it doesn't
auto detects jacks on Windows 8 too (without installing proprietary
drivers and SoundMax software).

USB cam was attached to the running machine, maybe suspend/resume cycle
took place, not sure about that.
