Public bug reported:

I just Installed Ubuntu 14.04 RC on an old Acer Aspire 3003WLMi, after a
very successful install on a Dell Inspiron 6000.

Both machines seems to have the same capabilities.

BUT :

1- NO wifi detected on the ACER. (OK on the Dell)
My first installation hang on kernel configuration for the wifi driver.
I found on a blog that un-checking the "use proprietary modules" solved
the problem and allowed the installation

2- Machine completely unresponsive with Unity (3D accelerator seems absent) but
completely functional with Xubuntu desktop)
    (Surprisingly smooth on the Dell)

3- NEVER power off when "shutdown" or "reboot" is requested.
Every thing seems stopped. but the machine remains powered and the
"shutdown screens" continue to run with its animation

I think that this is caused by missing specific/proprietary drivers, BUT
when I check for "proprietary drivers" none are proposed....

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-sis (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
