I used flashrom to update bios... master@master-MS-7623:~$ sudo flashrom --programmer internal -w '/home/master/Downloads/7623vBB/A7623AMS.BB0' flashrom v0.9.6.1-r1563 on Linux 3.11.0-18-generic (x86_64) flashrom is free software, get the source code at http://www.flashrom.org
Calibrating delay loop... OK. Found chipset "AMD SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0". Enabling flash write... OK. Found Macronix flash chip "MX25L8005" (1024 kB, SPI) at physical address 0xfff00000. Flash image seems to be a legacy BIOS. Disabling coreboot-related checks. Reading old flash chip contents... done. Erasing and writing flash chip... Erase/write done. Verifying flash... VERIFIED. Output of your command requested... sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for master: V11.11 04/27/2011 What happened.. Upon flashing, I restarted computer and held shift to attempt to see if Kernel 3.11.0-18.32 would still work as that's last known kernel unaffected by this but Instead of the grub boot-loader I was displayed several lines (wish I took a picture) saying bad CMOS checksum. I hit F1 to run setup, change nothing and exited and held shift again and grub loaded. 3.11.0-18.32 kernel works as expected. This message appeared across several reboots but has now disappeared. Also another error that occurred once and has since gone mentioned "The previous overclocking has failed." (see 1.jpg) Anyways boot into the two previous kernels which create this problem of black/blank screen and still same issue. ** Attachment added: "1.JPG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1304625/+attachment/4083053/+files/1.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1304625 Title: [MSI 880GM-E41] No Desktop Display for kernel versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1304625/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
