Attached is Xorg.0.log. I'm guessing that 3Com BR-06 on the motherboard is not video chipset related (there is no video card). And of the other candidates at least one has a Dell sticker obscuring the part number. I will continue investigating part numbers of my Dell motherboard hardware if (as seems possible) Xorg.0.log requires supplemental information to be assessed here. (thx)
