Public bug reported:

Linux lewis-cd2-xubuntu 3.13.0-24-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 10 19:11:08
UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Samsung NP300E5C Laptop
XUbuntu 14.04 64-bit (UEFI enabled with secure boot)
The problem is intermittent (this first occurred when reaching my linux user
group, and has only occurred once since upon flapping my laptop down last
night, I have however done the same thing on the way back from my LUG and no
problem occurred...).
Oh, The system does show the screen to prompt me for my user password but it is
after accepting that the screen becomes black, if I flap down the lid and open
again then I can again see the user password prompt screen, I enter the
password and again black screen, I have also tried leaving the laptop for
15minutes to no avail, it has an intel i3 processor with a 2.8Ghz turbo and 6GB
RAM with minimal applications open (Thunderbird, Chrome, Terminal)
