Public bug reported:
The Unity 8 Desktop Preview session displays all of the same apps as the
Unity 7 Desktop (eg. Nautilus, LibreOffice), except
(1) most apps will not run, because they require an X11 server, and
(b) several of the icons are missing and just an empty rounded rectangle is
displayed
Neither situation is particularly user-friendly.
