Stop marking it as invalid.
As you can clearly see, by the amount of users affected, its is a problem.

Its not that complicated. Since the dawn of time it worked a certain way but 
all of a sudden with 14.04 it does not work anymore as it used to.
If something changed, thats all fine but the update process has to handle that, 
for example. run the dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc during upgrade, all would be 
fine. Currently this is not the case which is a *Bug* and it breaks users 
systems.
You can NOT make users anticipate that change.

How you keep marking it as invalid and leave possible a lot of users
with a broken system is beyond me. You are not being helpful.
