Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

On booting up the Gutsy Tribe 5 gutsy-desktop-amd64.iso livecd
installer, the screen goes blank and I can not change to a terminal for
command line access.

The screen blanks out when X starts. This happens in both regular
graphical install mode and also in safe mode. The system boots up and I
can see all the kernel boot messages if I remove "splash quiet" from the
command line. Though once it hits the X startup, the screen blanks out
and I cannot recover the display on the LCD or on an attached monitor.

The system is a Dell Inspiron 6400 with an ATI Mobility x1400. Since I
can't see the screen to type anything, I can not supply an X.log at this
time. I will download the alternate installer and try to get a lspci
list for some more information.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
