I have the same bug - black screen on resume after unlocking, but only when the 
suspend was triggered via lid close and not when doing it from the XFCE menu.
Also, the display backlight is very low.  Turning the brightness up while on 
TTY1  with my media keys or cat'ing a high value to 
/sys/class/backlight/.../brightness makes on difference on TTY7 - still black 
(like #21 described).

The workaround from #11 works, thank you for that!

I'm basically just writing because the original reporter seems to use
nvidia drivers, but I'm on intel.
