Public bug reported:

During the auto-upgrade from 13.1 to 14.04 the process hung at 72% with
44 minutes remaining.  The window reported "configuring mdadm", the
window text box reported "Found kernel: /boot/memtest86+

The system hung for over 10 hours (I let it sit while I crashed out)

I shut down a process identified as mdadm conf using sudo su.

An error message popped up,:
Could not insall 'mdadm'
The upgrade will continue but the 'madam' package may not be in a working 
state.  Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

The subprocess installed post installation script was killed by signal
(Terminated)

In the upgrade window text box the followijng message was received:

blindpkg: error processing package mdadm (--configure): subprocess
installed post-installation script was terminated by signal (Terminated)

The "Show Terminal" button did not work.
