Done, see bug 1310633. Note that report was using the noveau driver. After that I installed the nvidia-331 drivers and had a similar problem. Tried to capture another bug report, but the system hung in the middle. I think it is interesting that the kernel generates an error about a usb device, which I expect is the mouse, beginning around the time the mouse stops responding (regardless of driver). With the nvidia-331 driver, the excessive screen flickering begins after about a few minutes of usage and then the system hangs a few minutes later. Let me know if I can be of further help.
